This was an idea that was born out of necessity. My wife and I have just moved into a town home, and the space was far too small for our coffee table and just right for this barrel top table. I toyed with the trestle idea on my last project, and refined it a bit for this.

What did you use for the cross brace. It looks too straight for a wine barrel stave. Perhaps part of a barrel head? Did you break down the barrel head and glue it back together? I see the cross pieces on the underside of the barrel head to keep it stiff.

Sorry it has taken me so long to see your question Todd, I haven’t checked this page in some time. I did use a part of the barrel head for the cross brace. For the top I did have to glue the head and then use another part of the head for support.
