A co-worker of mine asked if I could re-create an parrot shaped “oven helper” his wife inherited from her mother. The beak portion had cracked from years of use.
“Sure – of course” Says I – I just needed a pattern to follow.
He traced the outline of it on a piece of paper and measured the thickness of it.
So, a little bit of work on the scrollsaw and poof! The upper piece in the two pics emerges!
I liked it so much that I wanted one of my own – just not a parrot. I searched around on LJ’s and found the bottom image – kind of a Celtic, Snake, Dragon…......thing. ;-)
Thanks to JoeCline and his idea for the bottom image – I added an eye to it just because I think it needed one.
Both pieces are Cherry – the top one is a tad over 1/4” thick and the bottom one is around 5/8”.
A nice small weekday night project, and a great way to use up that scrap pile!
