This fireplace surround was made to hide a real ugly wall section in an old house. The center section was ultimately filled in with fake brick to look like a closed up real fireplace. I found a unique piece of bubinga for the mantle that looked like real marble – sure wish I had saved all of the photos for this one.

Is that where it goes? never seen a mantle for an outlet.
If your going this far why not make it look like a real fireplace with a tiled surround and closed glass doors?
