OK, this is the first REAL piece of work that I have felt was worth showing others. The faces are mahogany and the inside stripes are poplar and red oak. The drawer has 3 compartments inside and it’s sanded to 220 and finished with a few coats of Waterlox. It is not a high gloss finish and I’m liking that. In this case I feel it better highlights the grains than a high gloss finish. The box still has a few flaws and I see some stuff I’d like different but I’m a novice and so far this piece is my best work to date.

Tommy this is really a nice box, and I agree that it is your best work to date. Seeing it in person, the sanding job is really great and it FEELS as good as it looks! Love the Waterlox finish. Great job, you keep just getting better and better. Always enjoy our shop time together. Keep up the good work!

Very cool, I might be trying this myself now! I agree about the gloss, the finish on this is perfect.
