These are a couple of projects I did for my parents. The pine cabinet was a project that started a good number of years ago and the coasters are what I gave them for CHRISTmas.
I didn’t actaully make the cabinet, it was a DIY kit they purchased somewhere. When I was asked to assemble the cabinet I was surprised to find that all of the parts were wood, not a piece of particle board to be found. Upon further investigation I discovered that the manufacturer even took the time to incorporate a sliding dovetail joint to join the drawer sides to the drawer front. Overall I was very impressed at the quality of the cabinet. It was easy to assemble and finished up fairly nicely.
The coaster set you see is not the original design. The original design started out as a rectangular box that would hold 8 coasters. That idea didn’t go so well. What you see is the result of going back to the drawing board, taking time to relax, and coming up with something fresh. I must say that I am pleased with the way these turned out. I worked very maticulously to make the joints a slip fit. The coasters themselves are thinner than what you might expect because I was limited by the material I had. In the picture you’ll note that there were some coasters missing, that’s because we were using them at the time this photo was taken. All in all not a bad little project. Thanks for looking.
