It’s not often I get to make something for myself, so I made this little pencil holder for my desk at work.

The sides are made from wenge and the miter keys and bottom are out of redwood. It got a couple coats of BLO followed by several thin coats of shellac and finally some wax.

It’s really nothing special but I sure like it. The pictures don’t do it justice, it’s got several streaks of orange/brown that randomly run through it. This was also my first time to use wenge and I really liked it, you just gota watch out for those splinters.

Thanks for looking!

David

A nice piece for the desk, I like it. Really like the miter keys and contrast….

Really lovely. The miters are invisible. Is it blue? Is it black? Is it orange? Yes.

Nice little box and you got to make something for yourself, did the planets align for you or what.
