My sister had been looking for a kitchen island for a while and had compiled a few pictures of what she was looking for. They host a lot of parties so it had to be on wheels to make it versatile. I asked her to let me try and build something for her and learn some new skills in the process. I had never done any face frame work and this was my first lamination project. The top is hard maple that’s about an inch thick and it was glued up in 3 steps because I only have a 12” planer. The top is finished with 5 coats of Watco Butcher Block Oil and Finish that I picked up at Lowes. I’m really happy with how it came out and she loves it so it was a great experience. Thanks for looking.

It looks great! I’d like to have one of these in my kitchen. What did you build the case out of?
