This is my newest addition to my mallet collection. I made dead blow mallets for my brother, dad and myself just a month ago for christmas. it was made to mimic the carpenters mallet from a year ago. the construction is still the same except this time I hollowed out the center of the each head piece 2 total with a hollow chisel mortiser and filled it 2/3 the way full with steel shot. I then covered the impact points with leather and attached it with contact cement. They work great if not better than the original mallets I made before.

I love mine!!!

(Spoken in my best ‘Dundee’ voice) That’s not a mallet, THIS is a mallet.

Nice job.

Nicely done.
I was thinking to myself, Those are not dead blow mallets, and then I read your description. Yup those are some nice dead blow mallets. Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful, and I bet awfully handy when something gives you difficulty.

BCH – I have used the crap out of these and they work great. I was not stingy with the glue up either. These things will never come apart! Thanks for looking!
