My dad and I built this for my Grandfather for his WWII medals when he was a paratrooper. The material is walnut with a pecan lamination all the way around the perimeter. We had felt lined peg boards so the medels could be pinned from behind had a plaque with his rank and service time. The top removes with dowel pin locations for easy removal and replacement.

Very nice!! I’m sure he is very proud of the work you did and as well as his service. I hope he is still around. My dad was a Marine and we lost him last year so if your gramps is still around please thank him for us. They are very special.

He is still around and travels full time in an RV. He is a great man, he even gave me a genuine japanese sword taken from a dead soldier. It still has a bullet dent in the sheath. Love that man!!!

Beautiful tribute to one of the Greatest Generation! My complements to your grandfather! Express our appreciation to him for all of us. My father was in the PTO in the Army Air Corps. I read in my DAV magazine a while back that we are losing WWII vets at the rate of about 1,000 per day. I remember in the 1950’s when they had the last two Civil War veterans on TV- You Asked For It was the show. For you Trivia buffs, the Confederate vet lived the longest.
