Just finished the remodel of our family room and fireplace. The mantle and surround are solid walnut with four coats of oil/poly finish, wet-sanded up to 1500 grit. The last picture is how the room looked prior to the remodel. We tore out the old hearth, dry-walled over the brick, installed a new gas fireplace, and tiled the surround and new hearth with travertine. Whew! It was a lot of work, but we are really enjoying the results.

Thanks, Al. Sam and I did the tile together. It was definitely a team effort. We did everything except the floor.
