would this be acceptable for the box project entry? or does it have to have a lid? (just wondering)

Nice work … with some well places vent holes … looks like it could double as a whoopin’ stick too … at least I know that’s what my mom would have said!! lol

lol well i did consider using the back as a ” whoopin” stick … but now its all glued up with spices and all .... id hate to get the spices all mixed together and become rich and world famous with a spice blend because woodworking is much more fun :)

after reading the rules further , as u can see the canted wall box is over 18 inches tall ( i should have made it smaller) if i had known about comp i would have made it smaller ... i think it would be an awesome entry to kinda put a spin on the more traditional boxes tho . ie: jewelry, bandsaw etc… so to be legal and fair i will not enter it and i will have to make something else ... thanks for looking

Nice looking spice rack. I am sure that your daughter appreciated it. I am not sure if she is an only child but if not, then you will need to come up with another project. After all we shouldn’t show favoritism among our children. Besides it gives us a legitimate excuse to spend more time in the shop and avoid some of the less enthusiastic assignments on our honey-do lists.

It’s a very nice spice rack. I won’t even suggest you cut the top off to get to 18”. ;^)

lol rikkor, i considered doing that but dau said nooooooooooo …. i love the way the sides curve to add contrast and the tall back to hang on the wall its kinda shaker type style and could be used for many purposes … as u can see on the sides i strung up hot chili peppers and fresh garlic and hung on the sides as she has an italian theme for decor in her kitchen thanks for your comments !!
