Built this simple 2 sided easel out of pine for my 18 month old son. The boards are magnetic white boards. They are backed by hardboard and are inserted into grooves in the legs and the top and bottom braces. I used pine 2×4s so it was an inexpensive easy project. Practiced tongue and groove joints for the top brace. The designer (that would be my wife) had a last minute design change so I used pocket hole jig for the bottom brace. The cross braces on the sides are dowels glued to the brace and inserted into the holes in the legs. The stain is rosewood with 2-3 coats of poly.
