The desk is solid cherry with Mahogany plywood panels in the top. Each of the side wings lift out, not sure why but the customer wanted it that way. The corbels are cut from solid 12/4 cherry.
This was my first experience steam bending, more proof that there is almost nothing you cannot teach yourself from careful research on the internet. Initially planned to make the face out of thin glued up strips, but the try run went down in flames.
The pictures aren’t great, but if they were you would be able to see continuous grain pattern across all 3 mahogany panels, all the cherry around the panels, and the entire curved front.

This is really nice! Your finish is amazing, nice touch with the base board allowing the the legs to go all the way down. This is one to be proud of.

What did you use to finish? Very nice color and I was planning a shelf with the same kind of curve..

For projects like these I took it to a finisher since it had to match the cabinets next to it exactly. I think he used pre-catalyzed lacquer mixed with some stain to make a toner. I now there are several coats of a couple different colors. But that is why I stick to carpentry because finishing is a whole separate skill all by itself.

That fits into the space very nicely… well done!
Do the feet basically stop at the carpet, or did you cut a square out of the carpet and take them all the way to the floor/subfloor?
The continuous grain across the top and elsewhere really adds class. It’s classy already, but that’s a nice added touch.

Beautiful piece – really unique compared to a standard desk that would otherwise fill that space.
