bought this oak 6 panel trim piece at a salvage depot, cleaned it, cut it, sanded it, finished it. lined the lid sides and bottom with knot free cedar. lid material is 3/4 oak ply framed with 1×3 oak trim, blaksmith buddy of mine hammered the handles out of some old hand tools of mine.

I like it, its functional and uses reclaimed materials. I have found that people like this concept. I build chests using recycled flooring and old trash lumber and trees and donate them to silent auctions and charities to be bid upon. I also include a letter stating where the materials came from and a few pictures of the raw materials in their origional state, and the trashier the materials seem to interest people when they see the completed project. People like the fact that they are buying something reclaimed. I love those salvage depots and craigslist.

But looking at your ambrosia and cherry box, I see that you donate too to charities. I hope you get some good responses from the charities. I am just doing my taxes and the I donated 3 chests this year which helped me with my taxes, the charities in question came me a tax form which helped alot. Well great looking projects and I like to see you post your future projects.

Very nice. I too build all my projects out of reclaimed materials. Amazing what people throw away.

Great! job building and recycling. I’ve used pallet’s and crate’s recycled for year’s. I grew up around carpentry. since I’ve been coming to LJ’S I see more and more people doing the same. It’s amazing! what people waste! go green! also what metal did your friend use exactly? great! job
