I received this telescoping magnet as a safety award a few years ago. I was looking at it and thought, maybe I can make a new handle for it. This is what I came up with. I made it out of Paduk and stolen parts from a cigar pen kit. The finish is CA/BLO. Make sure and check out the picture of the original. I think it is a major improvement! Thanks for looking!

It certainly is a huge improvement! Did the original handle come apart easily or did you have to get drastic?

It was easy. The screw on the back of the old one is the same drew as the new one. I just unscrewed it. The top of a cigar pen (sans finial) has the same size hole as the original screw.

That is very clever. I have several of those in the shop but never thought of turning handles for them.
