Great desk. I like the design and craftsmanship. I used to be a pine snob, but I’m having second thoughts about it in certain applications.

I used Milesi stain for finish. For new construction clear, stained, and glazed finishes I use Milesi. It’s durable, looks great, requires only two coats in most cases, sprays very well, and buffs out easily when needed.

For restoration clear, stain, and glaze finishes I use lacquer or shellac. Both are evaporative finishes, easy reversible, easy to repair, and look very good. Buffing out is an option. These two finishes are appropriate for older and antique pieces.

For pigmented (paint) finishes I use Becker Surfacer (primer) and Bernyl Strong (pigmented conversion varnish). 1-2 coats of primer provide full fill in most cases and 1 coat of the CV finishes the job. Takes less coats than other products. Primer builds very quickly (even faster than Clawlock) and sands easily. 1 coat of primer is fine on tight grained woods and MDF. The topcoat also builds fast and sprays exceptionally well. One topcoat looks better than two topcoats of other pigmented finishes I’ve used. No overspray or dryspray problems.

For special effects finishes (crackle, distress, and glaze), I use pre-cat lacquer from Chemcraft and Campbell.

For stains, I like Campbells b10 base, but use others whenever the coloring calls for it. I use some Chemcraft, Lenmar, and Behlen stains at times.

For dyes I use ILVA and Campbell concentrates, along with the Microtons from Campbell. Also use some Behlen dyes and some that my local supplier packages in there own brand name. Also some from Mohawk.

For glazes I like the instant dry glaze from Campbell (amazing glaze) and the slow drying (alkyd) glaze from Chemcraft. But do their job very well.

Kedves Krisztián!

És sajnos nem vagyok asztalos, nem ez a tanult szakmám, csak hobby-ból űzöm ezt a “sportot”.
