Just a couple of pictures of this project. Made this and two other instruments while “living” in a motel room in Washington while on a job assignment. All work hand done as I couldn’t use any power tools and had to completely clean up after myself every night.

That’s what I call obsession.

Nice work. What kind of tools did you use and what materials? Loox like rosewood and spruce.

I used an old “egg beater” drill, chisels, lots of assorted files, small block plane, Exacto knives, tons of sand paper and a coping saw. Plus the usual assortment of clamping devices such as clothes pins et. al.

It is rosewood and spruce and ash.

Nice,

I guess with the weather we had today those hand tools will keep you in the shop.

Nope, with the power failure we had all day I couldn’t even see in the shop to find my tools. Plus, since I have a shop, my wife makes me work out there instead of on the kitchen table…........LOL

You could always check into a hotel to do your work.

Great job.

Great story and instruments. Charlie, we must think alike – I was thinking while I read the story, about what the maid must be thinking every morning when she emptied all of the wood chips, dust and shavings from the trash cans.

The gauntlet has been laid down. Somebodys gonna have to build a Cello in a public restroom to top this. I like your enthusiasm for the craft Mr Bob!
