A friend was unable to find oversize covers like this for his bathroom remodel and asked if I’d make him some. These are what I came up with.

Red Oak
General Finishes Pecan Gel Water Stain
General Finishes Endurovar (water based polyurethane)

I have noticed that wooden plates in the local stores have a metal strip on the back side….not sure if thats a grounding or safety feature. Did you do that? Do you know if its necessary??

Very nice work!

So do you now have a template or jig that’ll allow you to make more of these in the future?

I bet this would look really striking if done in some sort of exotic, like zebrawood, or something that has a unique and contrasting grain/color combo.
