This is a barn that I built for my 3 year old son for Christmas. He is an absolute animal nut and you would have thought that I just gave him a winning lotto ticket when he saw this under (or next to) the tree. Half of the roof opens up to reveal a loft inside as well as the doors and windows on the front and back being identical.

As it turns out I didn’t make this quite as durable as I should have as the half roof is already back out in my shop to be repaired. I guess that’s what I get for making it from 1/4” plywood rather than hardwood. Oh well… live and learn.

Good looking barn. Very nicely done. 1/4” plywood is fine but you may want to beef up your corners or where you have butt joints, with a 1/2 X 1/2 piece of pine or scrap wood of some type. Thanks for posting.

God Bless

Yes, I did support all of the joints with 1/2 X 1/2 scrap. The problem I had was the hinge screws getting pulled from the plywood. Need to have some hardwood behind the plywood to beef up those problems.

Very nice looking barn! When My son was about that old That was 35 years ago. You can have a lot of fun playing with Your Son, I can remember it a bit.

What a nice present, and project. Your son is lucky to have you as father.

That’s a very nice little barn and I know that your son must have loved it.
