Ok, so this was officially my first turning on the lathe. It started as a 3.5×3.5×10 inch hunk from woodcraft. Again, i forget the variety….I really need to start documenting that!

This just gave me a chance to experiment with the different lathe tools and get a feel for the machine. I sanded to 600, then finished with Mylands High Friction, and a coat of Johnson’s Paste Wax.

That came out very nice. It looks heavy enough to be stable, even though the top looks wider than the base by a little bit. It sort of ‘opens out’ into the candle. Looks great.
