Every year for the last 10 years we have made Christmas gifts, which is up to 50 now between my wife and I.

I try and do a gift that the user has never seen before and this year I got the wild idea to do the “bowl from a board” my wife changed styles 3 times and the tongue and groove was the final design.

The tongue and groove is made out of Bubinga and Maple.

The second bowl is out of Oak with Purple and Yellow heart

The third bowl is out of Oak and Bloodwood.

The last picture is of us doing the finishing (at 2:30 in the morning).
For the finish I used seal coat for the base, then 2 coats of sanding sealer and 2 coats of semi gloss laquer.

This is my first post so thanks for looking.

neat.. I have made bowls from a board for years.I have used many router cut designs. They are very cool and folks love them And I love the small amount of wood they take. Thanks for sharing all these designs.

These are great! When I saw them up side down, I thought that they were lamp shades. I have been thinking about making wooden lamp sfades.
