This bowl constitutes the psychic redemption of a failed bowl I attempted some years ago.

I set about making a cocobolo hollow vessel a few years ago, intending it for a gift for some friends. I worked myself into a corner, and realized I had bitten off more than I could chew. I set the project aside for a year or so, and then went back to it.

This time, I destroyed the work piece utterly. I gave the friends a different bowl, with the shards of the failed vessel inside of it, with a grumbled story.

This is the next cocobolo I’ve worked. As I got started on it, I decided that it would be the successor of the failed bowl. I’ve not done much more on the hollow vessel front, so I wasn’t going to throw good cocobolo after bad. I’m content with the result.
