Well, I didn’t know that I would enjoy woodworking prior to building a Pergola for my wife. Although not intricate, or close to perfect, it has made me want to do smaller projects and lit my wood fire so to speak.

Very nice job! I really like the ground level deck. I have an area at the new house that we are debating over what to do, pavers, patio, I like this idea of more decking!! And of course I like pergolas as per my earlier project post. Thanks for the idea!

Yea, the deck wasn’t too bad either. Treated lumber, but you could use the more expensive synthetics if you don’t want to treat it or obtain that wood aged look. I plan to spray a coat of the cheap Thompsons water seal on it twice per year. A fairly quick process.

Also, My wife and I disagreed on this. She initially wanted pavers, but while researching the actual cost of good pavers, the deck won. The gravel, sand, and paver stones are much more expensive than I thought.
