My oldest sister asked me to make her a 6’ tall bookshelf and she loves the look of oak. I moved into a new place and needed a couch and she just happened to have a nice one she didn’t have room for anymore. So now I have a couch and she has a bookshelf; everyone is happy. This is just a basic design out of Red Oak Plywood. I wanted to use my new Kreg Jig so the main joinery is pocket hole screws that I tried to hide with Oak plugs. 3 shelves are stationary and 2 are adjustable. They have a lot of big heavy books so I beefed up the support on the bottom shelves to hold the weight. Finished with a Minwax Golden Oak stain, 1 coat of amber shellac to warm up the color a bit and then topped with 3 coats of Arm-R-Seal Semi-Gloss.

Wow. I think your sister got the better end of the deal on that one! Nice work on the bookshelf.
