Every time my nephew came into the shop he’d say “Can we make a sword?” So I made him one for x-mass.
The expression on his face when he opened it was awesome

thanks for the comments guys.
I liked the way the grain ran too. But that was a weak point. My nephew got into a sword fight and the back end of the handle broke off at the joint of the handle to the sword. If the grain was going the other direction or diagonal it probably wouldn’t have broke. I fixed it buy gluing and clamping it back together and then drilling all the way threw it and gluing in a dowel to hold it all together.
