This is a table that a friend commissioned me to do for his new addition. I used alot of the leftover timber and some metal that I came across. Hand cut and scraped most of it.Theres a drawer in the middle. It was my first attempt at working with log type furniture. Finished with poly. Top was about 5in. thick pine, (weighed a ton). Was alot of fun to do.

Only poly on the top?? Looks like an epoxy finish, that smooth and flat. Very nice work.

Stevie,

How did you account for the wood movement with that steel strapping around the entire edge?

Ethan, I didnt allow much but the corners of the metal are not connected and there was a bit of room in the holes where the bolts went in.

Beautiful piece Stevie. I really like the metal strap as a design element. Hope wood movement doesn’t mess that up. Fantastic work.

I really like that. Like Chip I too hope the wood was plenty dry and then able to reach an EMC similiar to what it will see in service, before you encased it with that steel.

It’s really unique. Never seen anything quite like it, and the craftsmanship is excellent.
