Woodenheart (bandsaw box)

This is a band saw box, or more accurately a pair of band saw boxes.

The concept is that some couples can be separated for long periods of time due to work, family illness etc. Each person puts things to remember the other by in both boxes. They each take one half of the box with them. Whilst apart you can always add things to it you’d like to share with the other when the boxes (and the people) are re-united.

The boxes are each made of one piece of Padauk 165mm x 90mm x 40mm. The tops are striped with Purpleheart and Yew , overlapping in a stylised wrap to indicate ‘the ties that bind’. Glue is PVA and finish my usual wax over sanding sealer.

Be seeing you.

Hey Martyn,
Very very nice. You take such a simple piece and turn it into art.
The workmanship, the wood selection, and the crossed ribbon are top notch.

Happy Valentines day.
