I purchased this Toolbox, when I recieved my journeymans Toolmakers certificate 35 years ago. Needless to say That in 35 years, it didn’t look as good as the day I bought it, so removed all the old finish, and sanded on this for about a week, to get it back in new condition. I also replaced all the hardware , which was purchased from gerstner..

What an awesome toolbox and an even better story. If this toolbox could talk . . . I’m sure we would hear some pretty incredible stories. I hope you are able to pass it along to a family member when you are done using it.

Excellent job! I bet the chests that Gerstner make today don’t come anywhere close to the quality of this one! It should give you at least another 35 years of service!

That is a beautiful tool chest. Nice job refinishing it. Wish you had posted some “before” pictures so that we could really appreciate how far it came.

Yes I’d like to see the insides and a before picture if it exists.
Great refinishing. Could you also post what kind of finish that you used and all of the steps that you took to make it look so great.
Make sure that you e-mail a copy of the picture to Gerstner.

What a great box you have there – I too would like to see the drawer faces and what have you – you’ve got two more pic spots!
