Project Information

I made this sleigh for my six year old daughter. It is big enough for her and my niece (same age) to climb inside with Santa for photographs. It is made from 3/4" oak plywood. All edges were sealed with two coats of epoxy. I lined the bottom of the sleigh runners with a 3/4 by 1/4 strip of Azek trim; to prevent direct ground contact. It is a PVC product that works like wood and can be bent with a heat gun. I then applied 3 coats of Behr Ultra latex paint and primer combined. The entire sleigh disassembles into five parts for storage. This summer I will make all of Santa's reindeer. Happy New Year.

What a nice sleigh. Most are two-dimensional cutouts to go on the lawn, and you actually Built one! Interesting too, about your Azek trim. That ought to make it last a long time, through many holiday seasons. Cute pictures of the kids, too!
