Tried my hand at a bandsaw box, no pattern, just took a walnut log out of the pile and started cutting it up on the craftsman bandsaw. It was’nt that easy. I made a lot of mistakes, hence the dark stain. No missing fingers or cuts so I’m learning something. Used brass screw in buttons for the door handles. 3or4 coats of shellac to give it a shine and a good cover. mike

I’m like Ron, I’ve always been too intimidated to try, but since the old lathe took a whiz I have to think of other ways to burn the time. I even have a nice kiln for clay my brother is donating to the cause. His mother in law used to run a shop in Flint,MI. and like everyone in Flint she was murdered 2 years ago and she sold clay or porcelain objects and leather coats and other leather goods from her shop (you can guess what kind of group that drew in Flint) anyway my younger bro at xmas said he would get it for me and he said its quite large. So watch out Dan I’m on your turf now. mike

Great job for first try. I wouldn’t know where to even start one of these.
You’ll have to start a Claykilnjocks website next. LOL

Great stuff Mike. Way to jump in there and go for it. Very, very nice. I agree with Deb that the photos are nice too.

The natural form of the walnut log is very nice. I can see this by the fireplace holding matchsticks… (as long as you’re careful not to throw it into the fire.) Good work.
