My “1st intarsia.” I got the pattern from Woodworking for Women magazine July 2005. NOTE; If there are any women out there seeing this, I personally highly recommend this mag. I learned so much, and as the name imply’s it is for women but under NO circumstances does it act like we are a bunch of Sissy-La-La’s. They are straight up and they don’t tell us to go get our “PINK” drill or call on our “Hubby”s to run the sander. It’s a great community of women pursuing woodworking with different levels of difficulty in their patterns. So you can be a beginner to a pro and there is something in it for you. Patterns are easy to read and understand. Also like in my case I have very tiny hands and I was on the look out for a nice strong hand sander but I did not need one that was too big for me nor weighed in at a million lbs. and they have pages of tools such as this that are rated by woman who want the ability of a particular tool but don’t nessesarily need the bulk or weight of a tool that a 300 lb. man may use. I have made several more of just the plain seahorse and I put a couple in the fish tank I write about on the mermaid projects page.

I’ll pass on the info about that magazine to my wife after she gets done sharpening hammer drill bits on my sander. <ha> Seahorse looks great. Is there a lot of wood wasted with intarsia?
