Zebra Wood Box; A friend gave me a small piece of zebra wood, and I decided to make a box with the leaves, using the grain to act as leaf veins. I added a center leaf vein using a thin strip of walnut….a good match for the darker portion of the wood. The splines are also walnut. The box is about 4.5×7 inches, has curved sides, and the lid is hinged with hidden pins. Natural poly finish.

Very cool use of the grain and great job on the leaves. The curved sides and splines are an excellent touch. Thanks for sharing.

Very nice box JB. I like the vertically rounded corners and wood is really unique. Is part of the leaf used as a handle?

I really like the leaves, do they take awhile to make?

The leaves do appear to be a handle, don’t they? Whether they are, or not, I like them.

I too, like the curved sides. Nice box!
