I had seen this chair as part of the military museum exhibit at the Halifax Citadel fort. I thought it was kind of neat so took some pictures and did some scaling to figure out dimensions. The chair is built out of Ash and Walnut and most of the joinery is knockdown hardware including barrel bolts, threaded rod and hex nuts. There are 4 pivot points at each of the points of the triangle and one in the center of the seat to make it fold up flat and make it easy to carry on a field campaign. The finish is handplaned and sanded, coated with 3 coats of wiping varnish and a final coat of paste wax.

Very nicely made and interesting. One really has to wonder at all the heavy stuff they carried around from battle to battle in the old days.

Definitely like your contrasting choice of wood. I bet they didn’t used to build them like that.

Nice redo of this style of chair.
