Five years ago my wife told me that I was going to be a dad. I knew that I wanted to do something special for our new baby. I decided that I was going to build the nursery which included a crib, changing table and wainscoting. We found a crib that we liked so I took measurements and made up the plans. I made the crib out of solid cherry.

I think my wife truly didn’t think that I was going to get it done before our baby arrived. To my credit, I finished it a whole week before our girl was born. One of the best parts of building the crib was sneaking it up to he nursery while my wife took a nap in the living room. I got it all put together and then went down and told her that I needed to show her something in the nursery. Her tears said it all! Our second daughter is now using it.

Great story and a work of art. Crib looks great and very nice that your 2nd child is now using it!

Beautiful! How did you finish it? Did you use a stain or is that its natural color after five years?

Steven,

We can already anticipate the family dispute over who gets the heirloom crib. We think you better get started on another one just as beautiful as the first!! Wonderful design and workmanship. Thanks for posting.

That is a beautiful crib. Great Job!
Did you make it so it can be taken apart to store it away?
