Koa Leaf....Once in a while you get a piece of wood that needs to be something special. My older son, who lived in Honolulu, HI at the time, sent me a package of wood for Christmas. He isn’t a wood worker, but he did a pretty good job selecting this particular piece. The top has cross-grain highlights that are holographic. The wood looks like it is wavy. The box is about 5×8 inches with maple splines, leaf lid-stop, and curved sides. The inset lid is hinged with hidden steel pins. Hand-rubbed poly finish.
(Take note of the two part leaf….the grain of each half runs at a 45 degree angle to the center vein.)

Thanks for all the kind words. I sometimes feel like it is my job to make a piece of wood reach its true potential…...maybe some day I will, too….......
