My first bowl

My first Project:

Having court the turning bug some months ago I’d been itching to try my hand at a bowl. Then I found this piece of oak and starting making a mess. I was very happy with how it turned out especially for my first time, with no instruction.

125mm Dia, 65mm tall
I finished it with Shellac and carnauba wax.

hi nice bowl for your first turning great job you picked a hard wood to start with oak is not all that easy to turn it is very open grained but you did ok just my opinion keep on turning

That is a nice looking bowl for the first one. Oak is not the friendliest wood to turn if it is dry. Green oak is a different story. Thanks for sharing. Lets see #2 next!!!!!

Great bowl for your first with no instruction .This is a long learning process make shavivgs and have fun!

Looks good. I like the shape. Simple and functional are a great cobination. You’ve accomplished both.

Thanks for the nice comments! Having turned a second bowl since this I must agree that the oak was tough.
