Wish my skills were as good looking as the wood

Spalted Hackburry, the tree fell in the front yard. (I saw it so I know it happened.) Will probably be able to turn for years on it. Some day soon hope to be able to do a good lid, if I keep working on it.

Used sanding Sealer and Mylands Friction polish

It seems that no matter how hard a project is, posting it will be harder. It will be getting easier with practice I hope.

Now that is some wild grain. I’m jealous!

I think I need a tree to fall in my yard lol. The one in my neighbour’s backyard is huge maple and it continuously drops dead branches in my yard. I’m sure there would be some spalting in it somewhere lol

VERY PRETTY TURNING. LOVE THE GRAIN AND SPALT. BE CAREFUL WITH THE SPALTED WOOD. MAKE SURE TO WEAR DUST AND EYE PROTECTION. I HAD A REACTION TO IT A FEW YEARS AGO AND IT AIN’T NO JOKE.

Nice piece of timber turned well, good lid match up with that lovely grain.
Good advise from jockmike2, careful of that “spalt” dust, thoes spores will realy knock you with half a chance

Yeah. I hate to be the one to break it to you, but your skills DID do the wood justice.

Beautiful lumber. Great job on the turning !
