Here a a few of the fist turning projects i have done, just trying out different woods, shapes and sizes and generally getting the technique down. There is an Ash plate, a Cherry dish (small) a Cherry bowl, a White Oak bowl (square) an unfinsihed spalted maple bowl (at the back) and finally a tiny silver maple “burl” bowl.
I am doing my final project at school and i take advantage of any downtime by having over a dozen bowl blanks ready to go at the drop of a hat.
Five more, Cherry x2, Mahogany, White Oak and Soft Maple, i am enjoying this!!!
Between 30-45 mins each start (cutting) to finish

If these are your first turnings, you should be very proud.
I still have the first bowl I turned and I’m not letting anyone see it. I look at it occasionally to please myself with the “look how far I have come” feeling.
I’ll bet you got your knuckles whacked a few times when you turned the square bowl.
Good job.
