These are two bullet/deer antler pens I made. The one on the left is from a kit. The other is homemade from a 30/06 bullet that I drill out and fitted. Bullet pens are my most popular. Thanks to my older brother who introduce me and my younger brother to the pen making hobby.

Nice! Can you get several pens from a single set of antlers? Do you have to get the right diameter antler, or can they be fitted?

Yes you can. I like using the antler toward the base of the head. As you can see the dark portion of the antler is more of the “core” which is larger and toward the head. I have made several pens where I have laminated wood and antler together to make a striped pen.

What was the process for the antlers? Did you have to cut the blanks to size and let them sit at all. Ive heard they tend to shatter unless you let them sit for a long time after cutting the blanks.
