We finally made it downstairs of this monster job! We switched from quarter sawn white oak to all red oak because of price and availability. He said he’s going to stain it darker than upstairs. Oh Well!
We made these tudor arches in several pieces and assembled them in the field. Install went pretty smooth except for the 10 Mexican painters that showed up to paint the ceilings. We booted them after a couple of minutes! They kept saying something about loco gringo More from the loco gringo at http://woodworkingtipsfrompop.com/

PhotobucketWe built the sides and placed some temporary supports to help keep everything square and then we just slid them around the jamb opening

Photobucket We framed the arches out of ¾” plywood and doubled up on 1/8” bending plywood for the inside of the arches and glue the heck out of the back side frame.

Now that is some beautiful work! This place looks like a king’s palace. Can’t wait to see the pictures of the finished job.

Sure classy, but simple. It appears to be a pub from the alcoves. We just had to give some electronics guys the boot on a job. They didn’t like it either. I’ve been off for a few days maybe they got their crap done.

Great craftsmanship as always Bryan. The “look” isn’t my cup-o-tea but I sure appreciate the talent that went into doing this level of woodworking.

Yo loco Gringo….. Truly Gorgeous work!!!... I’ Love it. Freagin’ nothin like bad painters to drip all over beautiful red and white oak… Au man I’m upset just thinking about it… I’m so gald you where there to give em’ an adios amigos… Also sucks when folks want to hide such beautiful wood with stain. Anyways Congrat’s on the mint job!!!

I’m not big on the whole Tudor look either, I like the more classical roman arch, but I’ll make it as ugly as they want! Wait till you see the mantel. It’s a real Conversation piece
