I built this in woodshop class when I was 15 years old. Not the typical bird house project.The Black Walnut cost a pretty penny back then. I made all the brass knobs at work.

Very nice! I’m in the process of building one right now. How did you make the groove to accept the tambour?

Matt, I made a smaller offset Jig for the router to follow and just cut a 3/4 wide slot along the whole side. I had to make a jig also to glue the tambours to the canvas.

Very sturdy and divinely masculine. Plus, constructed of my favorite wood. Tambour as a shop project? I went to the wrong school. Very, very nice.
