I thought I would try pen turning. Not being sure if I would like it, I bought one of those Penn State drill press attachments. I figured if I didn’t like it, I would only be out $20. Not only did it work, it was a lot of fun. The downside is, now I’m a bit poorer as I ordered a 12” mini lathe. I’ve never turned and found it quite fun and addictive. Now I’ll be able to try turning other things as well. The first pen is kingwood and was for my wife. The second is tulip wood and for my dad to go with his pen holder w/clock I made. As soon as the lathe arrives I’m going to be turning 25 more pens. They’re for the women at the cancer center where my wife just finished her treatments.

I have kicked around the idea of getting into this but haven’t taken the plunge. I think I would like it but have never done any type of turning. These look great, one day I’ll just do it! Look fwd to seeing the 25.
