Our home is fairly small, so I fit this wardrobe into a corner of our bedroom. The material for this cabinet is salvaged from the walls of our kitchen after remodeling it.
This Spruce was cut from the forest near the boundary waters canoe area in Northern Minnesota. I bought the paneling in 1955 from a local sawmill. It’s kind of hard to believe that I had to pay a whole $50.00/thousand, isn’t that outrageous? If only I had bought a carload at the time, but as usual, I could barely afford what I did buy.
I also built kitchen cabinets with the same material. I’ll show them on another posting.
I made the raised panels with a Saf-T-Planer attachment on my Montgomery Wards Powercraft Radial arm Saw.

That came out great. It looks like the house was built around the closet. Nice layout. The “if-only” to me is that when I went into business, AC fir 3/4 ply was about $7.00/sheet. Talk about a truckload today?

Thats almost like a spanish style with those small panels. $50.00 a thousand, I saw a 10”X96” cherry board in the local hardware store for $110.00…one board.
