I made this box about 10 years ago. How time flies. I was cleaning out my parents barn loft and came across lots of old lumber. I knew there was something I could make with it.
The idea was to make this box to keep change in and when I filled it up, cash in the change and have a big payday. Well it was a great idea but I like to see my change pile up so I use a jar now. This box now holds cd cases and most of them were a waste of money. How ironic.
I cut the top by assembling the entire box, taking it to the table saw, setting the fence to 1 1/4” and cutting all 4 sides. The sides are made with rabbet joints.

I wondered what that slot in the top was for! It’s a nice looking rustic style box. Maybe you should have put some windows in it so you could see the change piling up, lol.

The wood and craftsmanship on this really make it shine Tim. Beautiful finish too. Great job!

Dig it down the back yard when full, then make a treasure map, and save it for the kids!
Nice box, I love all the old holes.

Cool box. I would hate to try and pick it up when it got full. You would probably have to use the money for the hospital bill after picking it up.
