I purchased a Lie-Nielsen ½ inch shoulder rabbet plane kit they sold in the 1980s. I have four blog entries documenting the process I went through making it if you are interested. Here I am showing the before and after pictures. It was fun to make and a learning experience.

Nice job.

I can’t quite tell from the pictures – is the outside of the body metal?

Thats a beautiful plane you put together there, really nice.
Did you get to making it a box as you wrote?

Thanks for the comments. The body is cast Manganese bronze just like the bronze planes LN makes today. Robert I will sharpen the blade this weekend and see how it cuts.
