Music Stand No-picture-s No-picture-s Click the pictures to enlarge them

A little bit ago a list of small projects for Christmas was started by one Dan Walters in which he posted a link to a music stand that sold for $70,000. Well, I was fascinated by the music stand and thought it might be a cool project.

A fella I work with started taking violin lessons after turning 50 and he practices his lessons at work. So, I thought I’d take this opportunity to give it the old college try and make a stand for him. I haven’t quite figured out all the details, but here’s my first attempt at a music stand. I think $70,000 may be a bit high for this one.

Looks great, Russ! What did you use for materials?

That is a nice music stand. Maybe not quite $70,000 nice, but I’d be proud to have it.

What a great project. I too just started taking Fiddle Lessons. I would love to make a music stand. Did you start with any plans?

Great project. There are a lot of musicians in my family and I have been meaning to make one of these. Great to see your design.

Great Russell. See what you’ve started. Now everyone wants to make one, If I could get $70,000 for mine I’d make one also.

Nice job.

Thanks for looking folks. I found I really enjoyed making this and will probably make more. I didn’t have any plans to work from, but I do have a wealth of memories from high school band. The wood is 1 by pine from Home Depot and I think there is about $12 of material involved.

Russell, I like your music stand – but I would much rather have the one that costs $70,000 – so I could sell it :-))

Nice gesture though, making one for your co-worker – it can out really nice.

Thanks David. Though I’m not much of a music stand maker, I enjoyed building this one and now have all kinds of ideas running through my head. I will be making more.
