Workshop addition

My workshop is not very large (see workshop posting) so I only keep two floor standing power tools permanently installed – my 16 inch band saw and 18 inch drill press. The remainder of the machines and a mobile veneering/marquetry station were stored in another room adjacent to the workshop. It was starting to get crowded in there and I wanted the space as an assembly area for some larger pieces I have in my work plan.

So… adjacent to the workshop was an under-stair closet paralleled by a hallway going to the work shop. Hmmm…the closet was empty except for an assembly table I had put there as there was no more room in my storage area. I tore out the closet and am framing in the end and entry way area to include what was the hall and closet. All my portable machines and the veneering workstation fit nicely and could be usable in place for smaller jobs – just need to add dust collection and more light. Both these changes are underway now.

I took the pictures before completion as it is easier to get the right angles with the wall still open and the outer door not installed. I removed the former workshop door but left the framing as is.

It is a nice addition and now everything is more convenient to me and I have lots of space in the shop “annex” for an assembly area.

Thanks Dennis

Nice lookin shop I like it,it look like mine shop.
Same table saw and I see that you also use the Ikea tables….
They are very handy to use.
I bought them on the dutch ebay for € 5,- a piece .
You can’t make them for that price

All shop space is good and extra space is even better. You have a very nice, well lighted and extremely well organized shop Don. I hope you enjoy the addition.

Very cool addition, and—really—very nice shop—particularly your choices in the tools you bought !

Nothing like the occasional land grab to brighten up your day :-)

Don, this looks like it will work very well and you are doing a great job on your improvements. Great work.
