This project tested my abliity to puzzle solve. Their are 42 raised panels that make the cabinets. 7 dovetailed drawers with full extension glides. The desk breaks down to five pieces for relocating, Top 31×78, Back 76×32, drawer boxes 24×27, and center drawer unit. Connecting the pieces was a puzzle as well. The two drawer boxes hold the center drawer unit with a series of pins, the back snaps to drawer boxes with hafele connectors, and top top mount basicly the same way. Cherry wipe to blend color and oil wipe to drawer boxes and six coats of laquer to the top. All components were all hand machined to fit. There is a matching two work station ,file cabinets and printer table/cabinet group, I will post in a day or two. Thanks for your interest.

Very unique and intricate work. Nicely done. Very proportionate. Color and finish came out great. You are a puzzle solver.

That’s a great puzzle, and all pieces seem to fit perfect.

You’ve just got to stop posting these fabulous projects, BP. Makes this ordinary mortal feel most inadequate.
Just kidding of course – love you work!

Great job! I was wondering if anyone had ever tried to make a puzzle desk.

I am glad that this one came back around. Cherry is my favorite wood with which to work and this piece is gorgeous. With all the raised panels I can see why you were “puzzled” over its construction. Very nicely done. And the finish is excellent as well.
Thanks for the post.

Great work. I like how the grain continues through the panels. Nice detail, nice workmanship.
