To reassure Rowdy that he is not the only LJ masochistic enough to tackle one of the Woodsmithesque quilt top boxes, here’s my attempt. I chickened out and attempted the square version quilted with only squares and triangles, and that provided enough vocabulary exercise for one project. Concerned for what little is left of my sanity, I did not attempt to fit the quilt pieces into the top individually. Instead, I fit and edge-glued them into a single “quilt” unit before trimming the perimeter and then gluing the quilt unit to the box sub-top. Cherry, with walnut and quartersawn sycamore quilt. Finished with oil/varnish. Ended up with lots of custom design features, but still a satisfying project.

I do like the look of the edges of each piece!

Thumbs, that box looks great to me. I doubt that you exercised your vocabulary on this box as much as I did during the construction of the ones I have posted, but there always is another day! I will give this style a try for comparison purposes. Good work.
