This set is for a juried comp. in July.

Another massive set, it measures over 32” square. The Kings are about 4” long by 2” wide by 8-9” tall, pawns about 2” by 4” by 4” tall.

Wasn’t completely done…still have to put wheels on the locomotive and the cars, find the Walnut king who went riding off, sand everything and re-finish. I’ve played several games on it and its a BLAST!

Solid Maple and Walnut throughout. For the cow skulls, I glued wooden horns on some old rat skulls I found in the shop (JUST KIDDING…those are all Maple too).

5 more sets to do over the next three weeks then I get to celebrate the holidays…can’t wait!

Thanks for looking everybody and I want to especially thank you for all of your great ideas, suggestions, and humbling comments on my posts!

....a Lumberjock set (suggested by a fellow LJ’er) can’t be far away….

Your chess sets blow me away every time. I like the old west style in this one.

If you have any pics of the king and queen do you think you could post those when you have time? They are too far away in pics to see what I’m sure is amazing detail.

Fantastic! Beautiful work and I love the idea for themed chess sets. New to me.

thanks you guys!

Eric, I’ll post some close ups soon…I purposely avoided them in these pics, but the carvings of the people riding in the cars is pretty cool. The King is rather rotund and will be smoking a cigar, the queen is looking through opera glasses at the robbers with her mouth hanging open, and the bishops are old Cardinal looking types, also the big King is missing too. I’m just hoping this will be enough to get juried in.

Haven’t figured out the time yet, maybe around a month, Gary. Normally I like to take my time and work on three or four sets at the same time, but I had to rush this one
